Mayfair Games Helps Gen Con Raise Record Charity Amount

Exciting things happened at Gen Con this year. As always there were a lot of fun and amazing games at the show. But Gen Con and Mayfair Games are also committed to giving back to the Indianapolis community which has been such an amazing host for Gen Con through the years.

According to Gen Con, more than $40,000 was raised for their official charity partner, “Gleaner’s Food Bank of Indiana’s BackSacks program, which provides weekend food to children at-risk for hunger. This donation includes a $20,000 check provided by Mayfair Games’ Cones of Dunshire event, a charitable game played Saturday, August 16 on Georgia Street.”

This is a proud moment for Gen Con and Mayfair Games is thrilled to have played such a large part in giving a helping hand to a fantastic charity!

With Deepest Sympathy

Mayfair Games wishes to extend its collective condolences to the family of Konstantin Krivenko and his company on his passing.

The Cones of Dunshire Charity Event at Gen Con Indy!

You’ve seen it talked about on the hit NBC television show Parks and Recreation®, you’ve seen glimpses of the bizarre gameplay, but this is your first chance to see The Architect’s vision in all of its conical glory! Mayfair Games, Inc. is proud to team up with Gen Con LLC and Parks & Recreation to present The Cones of Dunshire game!

This charity event will take place Saturday, August 16 at Gen Con®, in Indianapolis IN. Only 33 tickets are available for this game, which will give you the opportunity to play as one of the two Wizards, the Arbiter, or one of the other new classes of character! (The Architect is always making changes, so there will be some surprises in gameplay!) Players will be grouped into teams of three, with special sub-classes ONLY used for this event! Participants will receive special gifts commemorating the event and their participation, and other surprises are in store! And the game will be played on an oversized carpet version of the board, so that players and spectators alike can experience the Cones in all of their majesty!

There will be one other special spot in the game: The Ledgerman! Everyone wants to keep score (and wear that spiffy hat), so the Ledgerman non-player will be auctioned off LIVE at the event! ANYONE may bid for the opportunity, even if you are not attending Gen Con, since the winner will receive a badge for Gen Con 2014 (if the winner doesn’t have one already), and a 4-day badge for Gen Con 2015!

All money raised from event tickets will be matched by Mayfair and donated to Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, the 2014 Gen Con Official Charity. Gleaners’ BackSacks program works with nutritionists to provide kid-friendly, shelf-stable food for kids in grades K-6 in challenged economic situations. Mayfair will also be collecting appropriate canned food at the event as well as cash donations, with a special Cones of Dunshire item for everyone who contributes.

This event (BGM1466786 for Gen Con attendees) is limited to 33 players, with tickets costing $100. Check-in for the event will start at 7 pm on Georgia St. (just outside the Indiana Convention Center, the home of Gen Con). Questions about the event, or requests for registered players who would like to play together as a team, should be directed to [email protected].

Will you brave the Doom deck? Will you sheathe or unsheathe the Cone of Decision? Will your resource gems rule the day, or will the dreaded Teuber spell strike? All of this will be discovered at Gen Con with the Cones of Dunshire charity event!

The Settlers of Catan?: 20 years of settling, trading and building

January 15th, 2015

At this year’s International Toy Fair in Nuremberg, Kosmos and Mayfair Games are proud to announce a new look for the entire line of Catan® games. The new look will strengthen the Catan brand both domestically and internationally. The new cover art utilized by all partners will provide a visual continuity throughout the world.  This new look is more vibrant and alluring with overall improved presentation and splendidly clean branding.  The new packaging cries out… CATAN!

In the 20 years since Klaus Teuber revolutionized game design with the original Settlers of Catan®, a worldwide fandom has developed around the game. The original game, plus its expansions have sold more than 22 million copies and has been translated into 30 languages.

As part of the growing expansion of the Catan® family of products, the base game will simply be called CATAN® in all countries and languages, along with a unification of the game’s graphic design in all territories and languages.

Catan’s creator, Klaus Teuber, said that “By means of this change, we will continue to grow global demand and modernize the Catan family of games.”

Catan will visit India during the 2,700km Rickshaw Run. During this charity event, players will get to play Catan and Mayfair Games, Catan GmbH and Kosmos will teach the game and raise money for charity.

So here’s looking forward to the next 20 years of Catan, in Germany, India and throughout the world!
